Caution - Please don't scan the QR codes until unless you are sending the money.
Hi Guys,
I am here to aware you that people in many flatmates groups are doing fraud activity by using the groups/social media and QRCodes.
If you are selling furniture or anything, they will call you up and tell that they have a shop of that(with a fake name)near your area and will be ready to buy it and will ask to close the deal again and again by showing urgency to buy, in which they will be ready to give advance money in the form of online transaction and ask you to scan the QR codes(refund money/return money will be written in that QR code). He will also say that paytm machine is involved in this matter. He doesn't have a googlepay/paytm for direct transfer. He will send you a photo showing paytm machine. After that, he will send you the QR and ask you to scan QR code to give the advance amount to you for closing the deal. If you scan that QR code it will show that you are sending money to that person and yes it is true you are going to send the money to that person instead of receiving. They will insist you to do the transactions in a hurry 2/3/4 times saying that their check will get bounce repeat the process asap.
In this way, the amount will get deducted from your account instead of getting credit. After 2 transactions when you will get to know the amount is debited you will start panicking and now they will say that they will refund you money and send a greater value QR code 8k, 10k, etc. After this, you will land up in more trouble.
Please be aware of this person 'Sameer Saxena' or 'Rekha Bai' or whatever be his real name. By these names, he has make us fool and is smart enough to take your money and run. We have mobile numbers of those which are still on but we cant do anything once the money gets debited.
I have reported that person's mobile number and transaction ids and QR codes to cybercrime cell pune police station as well as paytm and hdfc and icici as they were involved. We got all the details but still, the mystery is not resolved as they have already used the money in Paytm.
